Maintenance & Installation

Teak & Oak Flooring

MAINTENANCE

1. It is recommended that felt or furniture cups are used to reduce scratching.

2. Use a vacuum and brush regularly to remove dirt and grit.

3. Signs of wear will eventually occur. To restore any worn patches the area should be sanded to expose the original wood surface and the same finish originally used should then be applied.

INSTALLING YOUR TENNORFLOR

You may also wish to have your flooring installed professionally, in order to ensure correct laying. This will ensure longevity.

STORAGE & TRANSPORTATION

1. If not stored & transported correctly your natural Wood product can be affected by distortion, heat and humidity.

2. When storing or transporting, the boards should be kept flat, with regular supports along the length, while avoiding any direct heat sources.

PREPARATION & SITE CLEARANCE

1. Ensure site conditions are dry.

2. Ensure the sub-layer is sufficiently flat and dry. Wherever concrete is used as a sub-layer there must be a damp proof layer between the concrete and the Wood floor. The flooring must be laid flat in order to avoid early deterioration of the solidity of the fixing.

3. Solid Hardwood floors are normally laid parallel to the longest wall of the room. Expansion will mainly occur over the widths - the more widths the greater the possible width expansion. Wider width flooring can compensate for excessive expansion. If your aim is longevity for your TENNORFLOR please keep to these guidlines.

FITTING NOTES

1. Door frames and architraves must be cut to height to allow for the thickness of the floor.

2. The boards on the edge of the floor should be nailed through the face to ensure stability. The holes can be filled. Otherwise the boards can be secret nailed at an angle through the tongue and the lower part of the board

3. Where the flooring is laid directly above a solid surface there should be both a vapour barrier and a minimum 4mm underlay. In this instance the boards can be glued together

4. Whilst the boards have been pre-sanded, there must be a finishing sanding process to remove all dust, dirt, and wood particles and to correct any damage that may have occurred during laying.

5. Following manufacturers guidelines the floor should be finished using special wood finishes.
